The first step in getting onto our IRC network is to download an IRC client. You can find a popular client called mIRC here. This guide will show you how to connect with mIRC. After you download the program, run the .exe and install it. When you run the program you should see something like this:
Click on the "Options" icon that the red arrow is pointing to. You should see a window that looks like this:
Fill in the name, email address, and nickname boxes. If you feel uncomfortable giving out your real name, put in something else. Your nickname is what people on IRC will see you as. After you've filled that in, look on the left hand side and under "Connect" you should see "Servers." Click on that, and then click on the "Add" button.
Fill in the "Add Server" window exactly like the picture above, and then click "Add." Go to where you see the drop down box of IRC servers (it most likely says "Random [network] server" by default) and select "Black-Cell.net." Under "Servers" on the left side you should see "Options." Click on this and then click on the "Perform" button. Click on the checkbox for "Enable perform on connect" and then type (or paste) the following into the window. You haven't chosen a password yet, but remember what it is you fill in here for later.
/ns identify mypassword
/j #bcserv0
/j #bcserv1
/j #bcserv3
/j #bcserv4
/j #bcserv5
/j #bcserv6
/j #the-lounge
Look in the upper left hand corner and you should see a lightning bolt icon. Click on this to connect to the server. Once you are connected, type the following into the edit box at the bottom of the screen: /ns register mypassword myemail. Be sure to use the same password as the one you entered into the "Perform" window.
You should now be connected to the IRC server and in all of the game server channels. If you are experiencing any difficulties, type '/j #help' (without the quotes) and someone will help you.
